Q&A with Jennifer Jones, President and CEO of Seed Technologies
by OKSBE Staff • April 27, 2026
Headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the past 20 years, Seed Technologies crafts custom technology solutions that help small businesses access the kinds of tools, systems, and efficiencies often associated with larger companies. We provide custom software development, business applications, web development, virtual reality, and other digital solutions for organizations that want to grow with stronger operations, greater efficiency, and a more advanced technology presence.
What inspired you to start your business?
I created Seed Technologies to provide small businesses with custom technology solutions that help them compete at a higher level. The goal was to help them match the output and capabilities of larger organizations through smarter systems, automation, and web-based tools.
What moment made you feel especially proud or validated as a business owner?
One of the most validating parts of owning this business has been building long-term client relationships that continue over decades and even across generations. When clients continue to return to rebuild a website, develop custom software, or try new technology to support their growth, it reinforces that the work we do has lasting value. What is especially rewarding is becoming more than a one-time vendor and instead serving as an ongoing partner in helping their business evolve.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a business owner so far?
One of the biggest challenges has been building and maintaining a strong local team in an industry where outsourcing is so common. We have always valued keeping our work in-house and in Oklahoma rather than sending projects overseas. That commitment matters to us because it supports higher security, better communication, stronger accountability, and a higher level of service for our clients. To address that challenge, we have partnered with local universities to create paid internship and training opportunities that help us develop local talent.
What makes your business different from others in your industry?
What sets Seed Technologies apart is that we build custom solutions designed to help small businesses increase their capabilities and compete more effectively with larger organizations. Our work is centered on solving operational problems, improving efficiency, and creating technology that supports real growth. Because our work is done in-house and in Oklahoma, our clients benefit from direct communication, stronger security, greater accountability, and a team that is closely connected to their success.
What’s one piece of advice you wish every business owner knew?
One thing I wish every business owner knew is that custom technology solutions are often more attainable than they think. Many businesses continue paying high monthly fees for online software that only partially fits their needs. In many cases, a tailored solution can provide a better long-term return, eliminate ongoing subscription costs, allow unlimited users, and give the business more control and flexibility as its needs change.
Why is being an Oklahoma-based business important to you?
Being an Oklahoma-based business is important to us because our values are tied to this community. We believe in keeping jobs here, developing local talent, and supporting local vendors and business relationships whenever possible. There is a real sense of purpose in knowing that the work we do helps strengthen not only our clients, but the broader Oklahoma business community as well.
How have relationships with other Oklahoma businesses helped you grow?
Relationships with other Oklahoma businesses have been a major part of our growth. Referrals, partnerships, and word-of-mouth support have opened doors and created opportunities that would not have happened otherwise. Beyond business development, those relationships have also helped us better understand the challenges local companies face, which has made us better at what we do.
What trends or changes should business owners be paying attention to in your industry?
Business owners should be paying attention to where technology can create real efficiency instead of just chasing hype. AI is getting a lot of attention, but the bigger picture is automation, system integration, and custom tools that reduce manual work, increase output, and make a business run better. They should also pay close attention to whether they are building around platforms they control or renting systems that get more expensive over time while limiting flexibility.
What upcoming project, goal, or opportunity in your business are you most excited about right now?
What I am most excited about right now is helping businesses put both virtual reality and AI to work in practical ways. We see real opportunity for virtual reality in training, product demonstrations, virtual tours, and interactive business applications, while AI is creating new possibilities for automation, efficiency, and smarter operations. For us, the opportunity is not just in the technology itself, but in helping businesses use it in ways that solve real problems and create meaningful value.
