Tulsa Tech Week is a city-wide celebration that showcases local innovation, amplifies business impact, and invites the community to explore the technology shaping Tulsa’s future.

What inspired you to start Tulsa Tech Week, and how did the idea first come about?

As a long-time technologist and tech startup CEO, I've attended many tech related events over the last 15+ years. When Tulsa's federal recognition and funding as a Tech Hub was announced shortly after I moved here in 2023, I was excited to contribute to the energy and movement that influenced me to move here from my hometown of Brooklyn, New York. A year later, there wasn't as much fanfare nor widespread knowledge about this dynamic designation as the everyday Tulsan - transplant and native - were unaware. In Summer 2024, I decided to start planning a tech week which is a great event type to involve everyone as conferences are historically for people already familiar with a trade organization, industry, and or topic. Technology is for everyone and we all have a part to play so the tech week just made sense to initiate.

Tulsa Tech Week is described as being for everyone. Why is inclusivity such a central part of the event?

Inclusivity is central to Tulsa Tech Week because technology impacts every person, every industry, and every community — and the future of innovation is strongest when everyone has a seat at the table. By welcoming all backgrounds, skill levels, and perspectives, Tulsa Tech Week ensures that opportunity, education, and economic growth are accessible, shared, and driven by the full strength of the community.

How do you see Tulsa Tech Week shaping Tulsa’s broader tech ecosystem and local identity?

Tulsa Tech Week positions the city within a proven global framework for showcasing innovation by using an established tech-week model to unify stakeholders, elevate local companies, attract outside attention, and strengthen Tulsa’s identity as a serious, future-focused tech hub where collaboration, talent, and opportunity thrive.

How do you envision Tulsa’s tech community evolving over the next 5–10 years?

Over the next 5–10 years, Tulsa’s tech community is poised to become a global leader by staying hyper-focused on its unique strengths — autonomous systems, cybersecurity, aerospace and defense, advanced manufacturing, energy, and transportation and logistics. By continuing to innovate at the cutting- and bleeding- edge of these sectors, Tulsa will attract world-class talent, capital, and partnerships, solidifying its identity as one of the most influential and specialized tech hubs in the nation.
